Fraudsters in the Border Area

The PSNI are warning businesses on both sides of the border about a gang of fraudsters operating a con.

Typically they ask staff to change a large amount of money into smaller denomination notes, then they create some confusion over the notes and make off with the money.

It's not clear, but must be assumed that their stash is counterfeit, but it surely begs the question that in this day and age, why would anyone in business even consider changing money for someone off the street, and more especially a large amount.

It's not exactly someone looking for change for a parking meter.
